Last night I went to the launch of Katrina Naomi’s first, full collection, at the Wheatsheaf, just off Oxford St. It’s a nice pub: does a lovely pint of London Pride and is friendly to poets – launched my pamphlet there, and my regular workshop group sometimes meet there.
Katrina did brilliantly. She’s a confident and accomplished reader of her work and has a friendly, unassuming stance on stage which really does the poems justice. I enjoyed her vignettes from childhood – but was tantalised by a vein of less realistic, odder poems that is also in the book. You really get the sense of a talent in productive flux.
Well done, Ms. N!
